Earlier today, Highland Brass performed at the funeral of our late friend, founder member and principle cornet, Kirsty Miller, in the chapel of the funeral director John Fraser on Academy Street, Inverness.

We played four numbers.

  • Greater our God to Thee (from the film "Titanic")
  • Going Home (the theme from "Local Hero")
  • African Funk
  • Amazing Grace

In addition, following a wonderfully touching memorial service conducted by Sylvia Cameron of the Humanist Society of Scotland, and readings from Kirsty's sisters, the packed venue was treated to a recording of Kirsty herself playing "Georgia on my Mind" over the venue's loudspeaker system.

Highland Brass would like to express our gratitude to Kirsty's family for inviting us to partake in this service.
Kirsty is a loss to Inverness, our small band, her school, and everyone whose life she has touched.
It was perhaps fitting that the flag on Inverness Castle was at half mast this afternoon.

Our thoughts are with all who have been affected by her untimely death.
Farewell Kirsty.
